Dietician FAQ
Is a Registered Dietician the same as a Nutritionist?
All Dieticians are nutritionists but not all nutritionists are Dieticians! There is no formal education, credentials, or a governing body to determine if someone can call themselves a nutritionist - therefore anyone can and they have a limited scope of where they can legally work.
Registered Dieticians are able to work with healthy and sick populations in clinical or private settings. Their appointments can also be eligible for health coverage.
Do I need a physician's referral to see the Dietician?
A physician referral is not required for patients to be seen by the Registered Dietician, though your physician may recommend an appointment.
Can I use my health insurance to cover the cost of the Dietician appointment?
Your Registered Dietician appointment may be covered by your extended health services.
How do I prepare for my Dietician appointment?
After booking an appointment with the Registered Dietician, you will receive an email with your appointment time and a dietician intake form. Please complete this form prior to your appointment.
You will be emailed or texted an appointment reminder for your upcoming appointment.
Patients that NO SHOW, CHANGE and/or CANCEL appointments without 48-hour notice will be charged for the appointment booked, in full.
